Stress test tonight (nowish)

Postby Muppet » Thu Aug 23, 2012 8:17 pm

I heard there is a another stress test on live client tonight, due to open up in a few minutes. If ya fancy a sneak peek at current state of game.
(Am updating my client to check it out so not sure if it started yet.)

I think I'll hijack this topic, to point people to this article from ANet that suggests that updating your graphics drivers might be a good thing for getting an optimal playing experience:

https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/bill ... rformance/

Of course, it's not going to make a great difference for me, because my poor beleaguered CPU is what's holding my framerate back most of the time.

I have an nvidia 460, which is lucky in that it isn't so badly affected by the recent driver issues. I am still running older drivers (295.73) and not having problems even if not getting the very best of GW2 either. I have seen bill saying 301.42 should be avoided as it causes problems, especially for newer cards (as per his chart), and that beta drivers 304.79 were much better - but were beta. So if you have nvidia and go looking for latest driver and find 301.42 then perhaps avoid that.

Other cards - no idea.. :)
