Gwar! (Not painted yet.)

Rwar! Also not painted yet. Yes that's a monocle and eyepiece type thingy. It also has optional glowing eyes.

I'm not gonna have time to do the body, legs or feet for the game, so I'm gonna have to cover those bits with a big black leather trenchcoat with slits cuts for my wings, and build the rest another time. :/

Nope, just means I'm a pirate dragon! :3

Going as part of a group of pirates, with a Gnoll jester and catgirl dancers.

Black! BLAAAAACK! You lock me in the cellar and feed me PINS!

*Cough* So, yeah, black. Because I'm in a hurry and black is the fastest colour to paint it.

Rargh, I be back! Weather was fucking evil. Sub-zero temperatures, snow, hail, mud and gale-force winds. X.x

Need to sleep for about a week to catch up.

I didn't have time to anywhere near finish it properly, so I just had to go like that. I'll need to build the missing bits (torso, legs, feet), rebuild the wonky wings and strip and repaint everything.

You can see the end of my 10 foot tail in the back there.

Lacking inspiration

Postby Klokwurk » Fri Apr 04, 2008 10:01 pm

Argh! I'm lacking inspiration for how to design my armour. I could go for something like this:
Image

But I want something more interesting. I like making props that look like they're made out of improvised materials (current possibilities for my shield are a pirate ship's wheel, half a rowing boat or a captain's cabin door, ones if I make a weapon are an anchor or a section of ship's mast, but I have claws, so don't need a weapon really (thanks to Vince for the boat and mast ideas)) but I can't think of similar stuff to make armour from at the moment, anyone got any ideas? ^^

It doesn't have to be pirate or dragon related. The tech level is your standard swords and sorcery with primitive guns. I could build it slightly smaller than lifesize in order to make myself look bigger. It need only partly cover me (around 1/3rd or 2/3rds coverage ideally) Preferably it'd be mainly metal (metal armour is stronger in Maelstrom) but any ideas are welcome. ^^
Ideas I've had so far include a mass of random part-melted weapons (probably wouldn't look good, and hard to make), and bits of horse armour (which would probably just look like dragon armour.)

How about a massive number of horseshoes stuck together to make a kind of scale mail?

Hang on... why does a dragon need armor.
Don't people make things out of dragon scales because they are tougher than armor :?

i must say, i really liked the ideia of having a pirates ships wheel as a shield! i think it would look awesome, though it might be hard to carry it around since you cant grab the shield because of your claws.
its the same issue with every other shield really, either you do something about the claws or you can just strap it to your wrist. make sure its a light shield though ;D

as an alternative you could use a spear of some sort, like a trident spear or a halberd, something really imposing. i also liked the ideia of using an anchor as a weapon! maybe strap it to a chain and using it as a whip!

edit: or a Huge Two-Handed sword!! << personal preference

just some wacky ideias

about the armor, you could do something like the luxon 15k armor set, i think it would flow very well with the rest of the suit. or you could do something like this
[SEE POST BELOW FOR LINK]
something half real dragon parts with just some bits of metal armor

edit: sorry if i messed up the page with that link, i can remove it if its troublesome
