mass effect is following the same footsteps hopefully. if i recall correctly Prince of persia T2T used online verification when you installed it aswell.
i guess it only makes sense that they verify your copy anytime you use the online features in spore.
biggest problem will be the unnecessary non-related game software that securom needs to install on your pc. its such a hassle every time you want to install or uninstall.

It's still SecuROM, just with the online verification removed, which is the one part that I don't actually mind. :/
