I make banana milkshakes on a fairly regular basis. It's an AWESOME combination. Especially with plenty of vanilla ice cream added and a sprinkle of cocoa on top.

if you are gonna add cocoa on it might as well make it a chocolate milkshake! so that's an invalid point since just a sprinkle of cocoa would make it 500x better, that's how bad it is!

and i read that bananas are radioactive, so clearly a bad thing to eat. (specially mixed with milk)

The cocoa is just for garnish and visual appeal, Rhay, I don't smother the thing. Also you have weird non-proper milk in portugal so it probably makes crappy milkshakes!!

Bananas are rich in potassium (one banana gives you about 10% of the daily recommended value), vitamin B6 (about 20% of the daily recommended value), vitamin c (16% of the daily recommended value) and fiber.

Why is this important?

Potassium-rich foods make you less likely to have cramps - because potassium is used in proper muscle contraction. You have a lot of muscles in your body. Your heart is a muscle, even, and low potassium has been linked to higher blood pressure. It also prevent de-calcification, by doing some mumbo-jumbo with your kidneys. I don't know. It's GOOD.

Vitamin B6 improves your metabolic function. It is so awesome, in fact, that it helps you build up neurotransmitters! You want to have neurotransmitters, don't you? Yes, you do.

I don't have to explain vitamin c to you, I suppose. It's awesome against colds and stuff! *

*Not really, but that's what most people think.

So in short: Bananas are AWESOME. Awesome, I tell you. AWESOME.

Get out there and have a banana, right now!

Because they are full of AWESOME.

Especially the vitamin C caveat. Yeah, the stuff about it being good for colds is bullshit. Incidentally, read Ben Goldacre's "Bad Science", it's a great book.

I did read some research a few years ago that found that vitamin C didn't help to prevent catching colds, but if you already had one it would speed up recovery from it. So there is some good.

Also bananas must be good for you, all the tennis players eat them during matches. That doesn't mean they taste nice though! Or have a pleasant texture!
