Mythos Closed Beta

Postby Muppet » Sat Feb 19, 2011 12:15 pm

Just found an email in my spam account about a closed beta for Mythos, so thought I'd post a link in case anyone else was interested.

Looks a bit too cartoonish for my tastes. Still... Signed up for the Beta, doesn't hurt to try it out. Thanks!

I got an email with 10 beta keys on it today. Have applied one to my Frogster (Yusho) account and it seemed to work - though says there is no promise of when an actual invite to start playing will arrive.
So this could amount to no more than the last round of emails, when I registred for the keys and heard nothing till now.

But 9 keys going spare to the first 9 who ask for one :)

Key sent in PM Klok.

For info...
I had previously registered an account on Frogster
https://account.frogster-online.com/

Then I applied the key to the account on that site.

What I haven't actually done is download the game and try to get in - I had time back in Feb but been busy recently :/

So I downloaded the client (1GB) and installed it. Fired it up and was able to log in just fine.
Game is certainly not well finished. Although this is Beta the live date is this month, so you'd think they would at least have correct labels on icons and text not overlapping in stats windows. And the translation to English is poor, but that can be funny ;) In fact, the NPCs in the starter area all shouted at me in some eastern language (I think the game is now Korean).
Very simple to install, setup and play though. So I guess this free access is a good way to see what it is like.

I made a Gremlin Tinker just to try out the guns and gadgets (imagine Asuran with a rifle... coming soon to a GW2 game near you)
But I am watching the Bloodletters charge around with minion gangs and thinking I WANT SOME OF THEM!

They sent me another 10 beta keys !
Seems they are keen to load up as many players as possible.
Open Beta is due to start soon anyway, though don't know if that will be completely open or still need beta keys.

Game reminds me of Dungeon Runners, though not as good (nor as funny). I guess it if does remain completely free people may use it as an occiaisional time-filler to play something simple. Though as you could as easilly fill that time with things like Allods, DDO or LotRO (all also free) I'm not sure how it plans to compete.

It didn't compete.
After I won a boxed copy in draw based on in-game stuff, it then folded and closed.
