Just saw the announcement myself (bloody night shifts) and am really happy we don't have to buy the Collectors Edition to get access to the beta.

Might still get the collectors edition anyway, it looks super good. 150 dollars, though.... :( *looks at wallet very sadly*

im still a bit confused about the preordering. i need to read everything again slowly.
i'm a bit sad about the digital goods. maybe the pet will be good, but the fact that some items are single-use only makes me a bit sad.

if the following beta is at the end of the month, how come you can only preorder in april?

Yeah, a lot of the digital deluxe edition is one-shot consumables which seems a bit of a let down. In the end you're getting a minipet and an elite skill.

I'd love the collectors edition, the making of book sounds interesting and I'm a big fan of the GW artwork, but £130 is a bit too expensive for me.

That is some crazy money for a computer game.
With no release date yet there is no guarantee I would get time off to benefit from any headstart, so no point investing all that money in a pre-order in case I don't get to play till the following weekend anyway :/

The only reason to invest the moeny for the pre-order is that I am going to buy the game no matter what, so spending the money earlier doesn't bother me much. I really want that collectors edition, but am having to justify the expense to myself, whcih is quite tricky...

You mean you'll drag yourself away from WOW to actually play it?!

I can't justify the expense, so I shall be getting the normal version. Especially since we will be getting two copies.

Roffle, I haven't played WoW for over 2 years! So yeah I don't think that will be much of a challenge!

Then what do you do with all your time? You're never online, we never get to play with you!

It's the silly shifts I work. But from May I won't be doing them anymore, will be back on normal Mon-Fri 9-5 stuff, so should have more free evening time!

havent decided yet
i see Fnac is the chosen retail in portugal. they are selling it for aprox 150€ which seems about right.
i'd take the plunge if i only knew how it works with the beta events. once i preorder it do i get any kind of code?

eeeeeee!

Well, it arrived today. As you asekd, Rhay, I'll rant a little.
It's surreal to get a DVD case with no DVD in it. Instead, there's a card with a product code key on it. I've registered it and just received an email from Anet

Congratulations on successfully completing the registration process for Guild Wars 2!

The game client will be available shortly; we will send you an e-mail with a download link.

Your Guild Wars 2 User ID is:
Daltana.3470

This is a unique account identifier, consisting of a name and a randomly generated four-digit code. You'll use it during the Guild Wars 2 Beta Event, on the Beta Forums, and in Guild Wars 2 after launch. The name and four-digit code will be your handle on the Beta Forums. The four-digit code does not appear in the game itself unless another player chooses the same name, in which case both your name and the four-digit code will appear.

Save this e-mail for reference! You may need to provide the game account information or your unique ID to a customer service representative to obtain customer support.

We'll see you in-game!

The Guild Wars 2 Team

Hahahahaha.. Rhay's got a girlfriend, Rhay's got a girlfriend!

I purchased the digital deluxe edition because I'm not as rich as you lot. Now my computer has decided to stop working properly so I'm soon to be considerably unricher.

that reminded me, im a bit worried about the minimum requirements to play the game.
they only released the minimum requirements, but i want to be able to play it as best i can. maybe i should have thought of that before buying the CE :X

Cheapest place I've seen the standard edition being sold was at play.com for 39.99 at the moment.

Well, Game actually have it as a "pre-order" for 34.99, but I doubt anyone will feel confident enough to order from them!

Haven't ordered yet as I won't have time to play till a few weeks from now as it is, so access to the Beta events won't bother me too much. Need to find out how much of my paycheck is left at the end of the month to decide which edition to get. ;) Also hope I don't have to upgrade my computer to be able to play, as that would mean buying a whole new system. :(
