Tournament invitation from ReV

Postby Varda » Sun Feb 05, 2006 7:41 pm

This is a translation from a topic posted on the portcraft forums by Yawgamoth, the guild's leader. ReV is the guild we went up against during our practice GvG'ing.

2nd Anniversary ReV Tournament
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I would like to invite the guilds OT Trib and Seeker and any other guilds that are interested in participating in a friendly tournament in order to celebrate the 2nd anniversary of the clan Revoltados Multigaming Clan.

It would be a group tournament, given the short number of participants. Each guild would face all the other guilds in a best-out-of-3 combat. Each victory would be worth 3 points, a tie as 2, defeat as 0.

The starting date would be, preferentially, the coming saturday, but if it's better for the participating guilds and we get a consensus we can hold games during the week.

There will obviously be a symbolic prize still to be determined but it will be an in-game prize : Prize money, probably.

Representatives of the guilds can reply [in the portcraft forum] or talk to me on MSN: ns1046@swt.edu

I'm just passing the invitation along. A reply should be given to Yawgamoth till tuesday (if we're interested or not).

Points to consider:

- Since this'd be a long series of unrated matches against a variety of guilds, it'd be VERY good practice.
- Can we be sure of getting enough people together often enough to participate?
- We only have one working build so far :/

I think it's a good idea - even if we dont stand a chance - and will do my best to make it to all the matches as long as they are scheudled to after 8pm.

Aye. It would be excellent practice. I know we're not ready, but it could be cool.

On a personal note, they talk of having the games on Saturdays. This would mean you lack a Beraton. But I'm sure you can cope. ;)

Bear in mind it's not all going to take place on a Saturday. Doubtless each match will be arranged for a time that's convenient for both guilds concerned.

I say go ahead - sign us up! And I'll start thinking about a spike build that might actually work :P

When I spoke with Yawgamoth, he did say that the matches could take place during the week and at night. I think they just assume it's easier for most guilds to have more players around uring weekends.

Looks like we're up against the guild "Tribal Clan" for our first match. Need to contact their representative and let them know when's the best time for us to play... So state it, peoples.

EDIT: Thanks for the heads up, Elle.

Aren't we up against Tribal Clan first?

Anywho, I don't think I can commit to playing any matches in this, as I have alot of work to do, and should really be getting on with it now.

Suggest you start a new thread for the tournament Varda. :)

Looking forward to this. After our vast improvement between matches 1 and 2 when we played against ReV, we should be able to put up decent efforts.

I have no plans in the forseeable future. I've got Monday and Tuesday off college so that makes me UBERFREE on those two days.

It's only in fun, Rhay. We're expecting to get hammered, but it's all excellent practice.

Hopefully we can start using and refining the SoJ spike build soon, so we'll have TWO builds we know well, in different styles :)

We ended up in 4th place, after losing to all the teams that took part in the tournament. Still... We won a prize!

Too bad there's no guild storage, so I have no clue how to split it... but there you go. House Behelit Mutual Trust Fund now has 6platinum.

Woop woop! :D

It was all good fun, and helped get us more into gvg. Hope you thanked ReV for hosting the tournament. As for the prize, just keep it, your normal generosity to your guildmates will see to it that it's distributed all over the place pretty quickly :P
