GvG Signup Monday 20.03.2006

Postby Mori » Fri Mar 17, 2006 8:31 am

After the accounts I've had of last night's preparations for PvP, I should probably point out that there is good reason why these signup sheets exist. :P

If there are people you think would like to play but who never bother to check these forums (glares at Ric and Tarkers), please do point them this way.

Monday evening will see a return to guild vs. guild combat using the hoary old Pressure Build Mk. II, as requested by Khaz. Slots to be filled are:

Axe/Gale Warrior
Air Elementalist
Flag Runner Ranger
Heal Party Necro
Boon Monk #1
Boon Monk #2
Energy Denial Mesmer
Illusion Mesmer

As usual, post below if you think you can make it, saying what slot(s) you might be able to fill.

/signed for any but the mesmers (I *should* be able to make it but might be on the late side, as I'm going to visit my girlfriend that day and it's a good 2 hours travelling)

I can be the air mentalist or probably the heal party necro, if needs be.

*hugs Mori*
Thank gods you're back! We may actually take less than 2 hours to do what we plan on Monday!

I would like to bagsy a spot for me please as a boon monk. Alternatively I can do the heal party necro, one of the mesmers (though I have no practice and suck most disgracefully, so please don't ask) and Nick can do the warrior if he is needed.

Most of the time Mori I post on Nick's behalf, as yes, he is a lazy sod and can't be arsed to read the forum ;(

He just came to speak to me about it: "I'd like to play the warrior, but let it be first come first served, I don't want to take anyone's place." He could also do one of the boon monks, but he is less keen on that.

Kick his ass and make him post. :P

I know I'm going to do that to Ric...

I'm actually going to sit out of this one. There are enough people to go around, afterall.

Come to think of it, have to prod Lys into posting as well... She never does.

If Nick wants to be Warrior, I think I have the skills unlocked for the Monks or Necro.

é___è
That's because I never know if I can make it on time or not. I only apply when I'm 200% certain of my availability =(
Anyway, we have more than enough peeps to make a good team! That's why I prefer to stay on the side and play a substitute role.

You can take my spot as a boon monk then Klok ;) I play pvp far more than most people, so I shall be a reserve, and let others play.

6 spots aqquired:

Mori- Any char (most likely Flag Runner?)
Bera - Air Ele
Rhay - Mes
Elle - Boon Monk
Klok - Warrior (possible monk)
Ric - Necro

1 likely:

Saint - Warrior (or boon monk)

Seems like that's the tally at this point. :)

None of that... Everyone starts saying it and soon enough no one is playing, whcih leads to a very big confusion.

If there are mroe people interested than the 8 that make the build, we'll find something else to do while you guys GvG.

Axe warrior here. Or hammer. But it's been a while since I played an out and out warrior causing grief to enemy casters by spamming fear me and switching targets often to target the most annoying ones.

Which brings us to 8 people! (9 including me, but I don't know what time I will get back from the missus'.)

Unfortunately the distribution of people to preferred slots is pretty much impossible - we have several signups for the solitary necro and warrior, for instance. In this case I've had to give those slots to people who've said they can ONLY play those characters.

The result is a definite variation on our usual arrangement: everyone except Bera, Khaz and Rhay, please look on it as practice with unfamiliar characters, do your best, and don't expect instant success :) (You may want to get used to the character in random or team arena beforehand, even though builds will suck individually and die a lot)

And so I propose the following arrangement:

Axe/Gale Warrior - Khaz
Air Elementalist - Beraton
Flag Runner Ranger - Fox
Heal Party Necro - Ric
Boon Monk #1 - Klok
Boon Monk #2 - Nick
Energy Denial Mesmer - Rhay
Illusion Mesmer - Ellers

Calling targets: Khaz
Main strategic coordinator on Ventrilo: Beraton (please re-read this thread for hints)
Logged into Ventrilo: EVERYONE, YOU BASTARDS

Although not participating, I will try to be back in time to get everyone's arses in gear. If I'm not, I'll leave it to Khaz.

(Khaz, when doing this, your FIRST priority is to get everyone who signed up INTO the guild hall and ON a team. This comes before arranging skills, discussing strategies, and so on. Employ IRC, MSN, and other people's special means of contact if someone hasn't logged in. Failing this, arrange a substitute from people who ARE logged in - I'm sure Lys or Varda would be willing.

Once this is done, you're halfway there, and discussion of the build, skill changes, preparations and so on can go on in blue chat. People can quit the team temporarily to buy skills or remake a character, and be reinvited when they come back. Gaming can then start once everyone's happy - second part of your job is ensuring this happens without sidetrack discussions. :))

We may have a slight problem. Nick has spilt tea on his keyboard, and now it is kaput. He has a spare one but the person he is borrowing it from is going home tomorrow and may want to take it with them. I'm sure we'll work something out, but thought I'd better warn you.

If I'm around, I can easily play his monk slot, or something. Should be able to figure something out. Thanks for the warning :)

Another warning then...I won't be able to make it. :/

Apologies for the late warning but I only found out like 5 minutes ago. Blah.

Gah! I apologise for being absent until so late. If I'd known about this I'd have made more of an effor... ah, who am I kidding. Even Guild Wars isn't worth giving up a romantic dinner with the missus for.

I thought Missus was used as a title for wife/female in a long-term relationship?

Anyway, what was the veridict from last night? Besides Khaz's untimely non-appearence (I say we ban him from signing up for GVG if he ever does this again :P) and Nick's prima-donna hissy-fit?

You had people playing roles they had almost no experince in, Rhay - I'd be very surprised if you had flawlessly won all the matches. ;)

I think rhay needs to be taught about the birds and the bees, so he can tell the differenece between boys and girls.

Yes it is, so WHY DIDN'T HE INVITE US TO THE WEDDING???

Varda wrote: and Nick's prima-donna hissy-fit?

He didn't really have a paddy, he was just upset he didn't have the right elites to play, and someone came round asking if he wanted to go to the pub.
